About the Cottage

Lounge Holidays is thrilled to offer, Afon Morfa an imposing family holiday home with a large swimming pool set in its own 10 acre grounds and enjoying an enviable rural location in the historic village of Arthog.  It has 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and sleeps 10 guests in style.  FREE WIFI of course!

The cottage has a sunny, north west facing garden to soak up the rays and enjoy the stunning sunsets.  Apart from its own woodland, meadow, stream and waterfall, there are miles of gorgeous walks and scenery to enjoy all around.  The stunning Mawddach Estuary is opposite, facing Barmouth and the Cader Idris mountain area is just a short drive.  Much of the 10 acres of grounds is wild woodland sloping steeply to the main road. Explore at your leisure, nowhere is out of bounds, but care is needed; picnic in the woods, laze on the south-facing meadow or explore the waterfall which is spectacular after rain. The pool is unheated, glorious on a sunny summer day. It is covered and out of use between mid-October and Easter.

Set in The Snowdonia National Park, Arthog is ideally situated for whatever type of holiday you want.  For those with families, miles of sweeping sandy beaches can be found all along the coast.   If you're into cycling or horse riding, there are numerous scenic places to ride. This is a walker paradise with the Mawddach Trail opposite, Coed Y Brenin & Cader Idris just a short drive away!  If you're not the active type, there is lots to do in Dolgellau, Tywyn & Barmouth with independent shops, pubs and eateries or how about a ride along the coast on the scenic Cambrian Coast Railway?

Come & enjoy this fabulous retreat and explore this amazing area.  Mid Wales is truly stunning and a 'well kept secret' by discerning globe trotters. 

Description and features:

This stunning property is tastefully decorated and furnished with quality furniture and bedding.  It benefits from central heating, part double glazing and quality flooring.

THE GROUND FLOOR:

With fairly level access of the drive, you enter the entrance hall, with tiled flooring, the hallway opens on to the snug then through to the living room on one side and the dining room then kitchen to the other side . 

Guest cloak room/Laundry room:

With WC & vanity unit/ hand basin,  washing machine, sink and separate tumble dryer. Also, provides a useful 'boot room' for walkers.

MAIN LIVING ROOM:

The large and cosy living room, has a gorgeous original inglenook fireplace with a woodburner, beamed ceiling, newly carpeted flooring, cosy seating for 8 people, inc an L shape settee and 3 seater settee, plus other occasional chairs. The room enjoys lovely views over the garden towards the pool. There is a 32” TV/DVD, coffee table and to the side and is a reading area with easy chair, plus a built in book case with CD/Radio books and games.

SNUG or CHILL OUT ROOM:

With 2 x arm chairs and a 3 seater settee. The room enjoys lovely views over the garden towards the pool.

DINING ROOM:

The lovely dining area with quarry tiled floor and patio doors that open onto the front garden.  It has a beautiful period dining table with seating for up to 10 guests.

KITCHEN:

A lovely L shaped country style kitchen with tiled floor, enjoying lovely views over the rear garden.  The kitchen is really well equipped with everything you require to cook for a large family or group, including dishwasher, microwave and much more. There are numerous oak kitchen units, fully fitted.  The kitchen boasts a superb range of integrated appliances, including a fridge, freezer, dishwasher, big range gas cooker with 2 ovens & grill, 6 ring gas hob.  In the middle of the kitchen is a farmhouse table and 6 chairs but can accommodate 10 guests and to the far end is a separate sitting area with wicker chairs and coffee table, great for watching the kids while the adults cook!

CONSERVATORY:

One of the key ‘selling points’ of this lovely home is the big, double glazed, sunny conservatory, with tiled flooring,  3 bamboo chairs and a wicker coffee table. The conservatory enjoys lovely views of the gardens and the woodlands.

BEDROOM 4 (on ground floor) Single bedroom: sleeps 1

With mainly fitted furniture and a vanity wash hand basin.  A single size bed plus bed side table.  Carpeted flooring.   Being on ground floor it is great for someone with mobility issues.  It’s close to the WC on the ground floor.   Not suitable for disabled, as there are a couple of steps to the room.

UPSTAIRS:

Travel cot & high chair available.

There are 2 separate stairways upstairs. 

BEDROOM 1/ Double master bedroom En-suite  sleeps 2

Lovely off white fitted furniture and designer bedding.  A double size bed, fitted wardrobes and chest of drawers, fitted dressing table, with stool and bed side tables. 2 windows (one velux) with stunning views to enjoy. Carpeted flooring. 

En-suite bathroom: with WC, wash hand basin, bath with mixer taps and shower attachment. 

BEDROOM 2/ Double bedroom: sleeps 2

Lovely off white fitted furniture and designer bedding.  A double size bed, 2 X fitted wardrobes and chest of drawers, dressing table, with stool and bed side tables. 2 windows (one velux) with stunning views to enjoy. Carpeted flooring. 

BEDROOM 3/ Bunk & single bedroom: sleeps 3

An adult size bunk bed, 2 x small build in hanging spaces, chest of drawers, 1 dressing table, 2 windows to the front (one velux) and a window to the rear, stunning views to enjoy. Carpeted flooring. 

FAMILY BATHROOM:

Newly fitted Bathroom, with glass cubicle & electric shower, fitted WC, vanity wash hand unit and separate bath.  Stylish, pale grey flooring and panelling.  2 windows (one velux)

Up to the 2nd stairway. 

BEDROOM 5/ Large Double En-Suite bedroom: sleeps 2

Lovely dark wood period furniture and designer bedding.  A double size ‘brass bedstead’ bed, twin chest of drawers and bed side tables. 4 windows (2 velux) with stunning views to enjoy. Carpeted flooring. 

En-suite showeroom, newly fitted, with big walk in shower, fitted WC and vanity wash hand basin, lovely wood effect flooring and marble effect panelling.

OUTSIDE

Afon Morfa Holiday Home, with a swimming pool, set in the beautiful Snowdonia National Park, truly has it all !

Swimming pool & patio: North West facing, which benefits from the sun most of the day and surrounded by lovely rural & woodland landscape. 

The pool has a big patio areas and will have pool/patio furniture in place for the summer season.  The pool is tested and serviced every week.   The pool is unheated, glorious on a sunny summer day. It is covered and out of use between mid- October and Easter. Set in its own 10 acre grounds, with views of the Mawddach and Barmouth from the woodland.  The cottage has its own woodland, meadow, stream and waterfall, there are miles of gorgeous walks and scenery to enjoy all around. Much of the 10 acres of grounds is wild woodland sloping steeply to the main road. Explore at your leisure, nowhere is out of bounds but care is needed; picnic in the woods, laze on the south-facing meadow or explore the waterfall which is spectacular after rain.

The drive off the main road is a bit steep, but nothing that would trouble a normally car.  It’s only about 100 yards of the main road.  There is parking for several cars.

FURTHER DETAILS.

We have a minimum charge of £699 for any stay.

Friday changeovers in the main season.

We ask for a 25% deposit on booking & a £29.95 booking fee.

The balance is due 8 weeks before.

There is a £399 security deposit, which we will return within 14 days provided there are no breakages or damage.

We will consider 1 dog, no puppies. A £25 supplement applies.

Swimming pool: Guest have use of pool on the full understanding that they use it in an accordance with the instruction provided in the contract and at the property and that Lounge Holidays and or the owner do not accept any responsibility for death, personal injury or failure of the equipment in connection with the use of this pool. If you use the pool and its equipment incorrectly or do not follow the instruction provided at the property, we will hold you fully responsible for any loss or damage caused to it and any associated equipment provided.  It is your responsibility to use the pool safely and the look after the associated equipment provided.  We draw particular attention to the instruction that all guest shower and remove make up, deodorants and sun tan lotion before using the pool.  Guests with fake tan applied are not permitted to use the pool. The pool area is out of bounds between mid- October and Easter.   The water is treated regularly in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions, but if we need to do an unscheduled change of the water as a result of incorrect use, we will charge you £150.

Rates shown below are per night or for the whole week. Where a nightly rate is shown, we offer a 4 night midweek break arriving on Monday leaving on Friday and a 3 night weekend break arriving on Friday leaving on Monday.
