About the Converted Chapel


A superb newly converted, Gothic Style Chapel with a newly fiitted  indoor, 4 person, infra-red sauna.  Set in the friendly little village of Abergynolwyn, this property sleeps up to 22 guests and offers genuine 5* self-catering, group accommodation. This former Methodist chapel, originally built in the 1860s, has been a labour of love for the present owners and is now transformed into a superb, contemporary holiday home, perfect for large families & groups. It is also pet free and smoke free; therefore great for guests with allergies. Set in The Snowdonia National Park, Jerusalem Chapel is ideally situated for whatever type of holiday you want. 

The whole property is split into two, very spacious homes, which enjoy many original features, with the larger 'Chapel' occupying the front part and the 'Vestry' occupying the rear part. No expense has been spared to make your stay as comfortable as possible.  All the furniture, high quality bedding & soft furnishings are beyond what you would expect in a premium, boutique style holiday home. Both houses have separate outdoor spaces and to the side of the property there is parking for several cars.


Sleeps 10-12 guests in four bedrooms, each with their own en-suite bathrooms. There is also a comfortable bed settee in the lounge. With the garden to the front, you enter a lovely slate floor hallway with coat & shoe racks plus a storage cupboard.  There is a sweeping oak staircase fitted with a child safety gate, which leads up to the living area and to its side, there is a useful utility room with washer/dryer & drying space. Keen mountain bikers and outdoor sports enthusiasts will appreciate the drying room & there is also a large bike/equipment storage area in the side yard. A guest's cloakroom with WC & basin are located off the hallway. On the 1st floor, there is a fabulous open plan living area with high feature ceilings, solid oak flooring, underfloor heating throughout.  The living room enjoys stunning views all round of the Dysynni River, the village towards the railway & the hills & mountains and has fantastic entertainment facilities, including WiFi. There is a bespoke dining table & 10 chairs, screen and projector which can be connected to laptop or other devices via USB or VGA (10 additional chairs stored downstairs) and a state-of-the-art, well equipped kitchen with island & granite worktops, large induction hob, double oven, combination microwave/oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher, wine chiller. Outside there is a spacious enclosed garden with large picnic bench and BBQ and lovely views of the mountains and river. 


Sleeps 10 guest in three bedrooms, two of which have their own en-suite bathrooms. On the spacious landing, there is a comfortable bed settee, providing a fourth 'bedroom'
The lounge area is a fabulous open-plan space, with a feature raised oak floor seating area, on which there are a large 3 seater sofa & 2 armchairs.  There are excellent entertainment facilities, with a 46” TV with Freesat, iPod docking station, DVD player and Wii, as well as a selection of books, DVDs and games & electric blinds. The dining area is equipped with a large, solid oak dining table, leather chairs and oak sideboard and the state-of-the-art, well-equipped kitchen includes a large induction hob, double oven, microwave/oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher.

Short breaks when available: Monday- Friday 4 nights & Friday-Monday 3 nights. Arrivals from 4.00 pm vacate by 10.00 am.

 A min charge of £1398 for both parts of the property applies.

Where a 1 week minimum applies, our changeover day is Friday.  Prices are shown are in pounds sterling per week, inclusive of electric, bedding & towels. Please bring your own beach towels.

The following price list is for 18 people (22 with a £35 supplement per extra guest) and is for both parts of the property.

The Chapel part comfortably sleeps 10 people, but we can accommodate 12 (2 sleeping on a comfortable bed settee) A £35 per extra person surcharge applies. The Vestry part comfortably sleeps 8, but we can accommodate 10,(2 sleeping on a comfortable bed settee) A £35 per extra person surcharge applies, so in total we can sleep 22 guests.  For groups of 10 or less using the Chapel or 8 or less in the Vestry,  if you wish to have use of the bed settees we can have them made up and one £35  surcharge applies.

We request a 25% deposit on booking, with the balance due 8 weeks before the arrival date.
We also ask for a damage deposit of £500 for both parts, which is refundable providing there are no breakages or damage to the property.

We can accept payments by cheque, but prefer a BACS or FASTER (internet) payment in GBP. We also have a PayPal/credit card facility, for which we charge a 1.8% supplement per transaction. Details available on request. A £29.95 booking fee applies to each booking.

It is the guest's responsibility to insure against any losses that may occur should the need to cancel their holiday arise.

Rates shown below are per night or for the whole week. Where a nightly rate is shown, we offer a 4 night midweek break arriving on Monday leaving on Friday and a 3 night weekend break arriving on Friday leaving on Monday.

"Zoe C London, United Kingdom Great Location, fabulous property Left on Nov 13, 2015 for a stay in Oct 2015 I stayed here at the end of October 2015 with my parents, siblings and nephews/nieces. We took both properties and that worked really well. We used the main house for all meals and there were plenty of pots and pans/crockery etc to have the groups from the two properties combined. In the evening the teenagers had the option of heading back to the annexe to watch DVD's if they wanted to, so great flexibility. All the bedrooms were comfortable and the fact that they were all ensuite was perfect when we all came back from biking or walking. We had 15+ bikes with us and there was plenty of space to accommodate them outside plus loads of space inside for boots, coats and biking gear. Surrounding countryside is stunning - loads of walks from the house plus other options a short drive away e,g, Cadair Idris. Hard core bikers were well catered for both cycling out from the house as well as short drives to other options, including Coed y Brenin. Those of us wanting something a bit flatter headed to the Mawddach Trail and had a great time doing the return trip from Dolgellau to Barmouth - we had a 6 and 7 year old in the party and they did the whole 18 miles too. Would definitely recommend the property and the location - we would go back again as there was still lots to see and do."
