Lounge Holidays was established in Tywyn, Gwynedd in Southern Snowdonia and some of our most popular holiday homes are located here. No wonder, since Tywyn was recently voted (May 2013) one of the top five beaches in Wales.  We now have an office in Barmouth on the same coast line and both resorts have a sunny, west-facing sandy beach, which forms a significant part of Cardigan Bay. This huge and stunningly beautiful bay is host to some of the most spectacular sunsets in the country. In addition, from early Spring through till Autumn, dolphins and porpoises can be spotted close to the shore - an amazing sight to see!  It's not unusual to see them on a daily basis in pods of up to 20. Tywyn is possibly the only place on the West Coast where you can park for FREE virtually right on the beach. Both resorts have level access to the town where there are supermarkets, shops, restaurants, cafes, pubs, banks and post office.  Tywyn has a cinema, health centre, cottage hospital, several churches and leisure centre with an indoor swimming pool. Our own bistro - Salt Marsh Kitchen, Tywyn, opened in August 2013 and has been gathering extremely good reviews. You can visit the website www.saltmarshkitchen.co.uk to view a typical menu and opening hours.

Just 5 minutes' drive from Tywyn is the picturesque harbour village of Aberdovey, with the famous Aberdovey Golf Course plus several good restaurants & pubs.

For watersport enthusiasts and visitors with families, there are uncrowded, sweeping, sandy beaches in Barmouth, Tywyn or Aberdovey. Depending on the conditions, Tywyn is a focal point for surfers & kayakers. Aberdovey is a well-known wind surfing & sailing centre. It is also possible to Jet Ski in both resorts. Fishing trips can be arranged in Barmouth, Tywyn & Aberdovey all year round.

This area is full of history dating back to pre-historic times. Just get slightly off the beaten track on the dozens of public footpaths and you will come across standing stones, stone circles, abandoned farmhouses, castles & ancient churches.

Places within a just few miles NOT TO BE MISSED:

Aberdovey, lovely old fishing village, GOLF & SAILING haven, with many good restaurants, pubs & coffee shops.

St Cadfans Church in Tywyn dating back 1500 years with the Cadfan Stones, which are apparently the oldest known inscriptions of the Welsh language.

Dolgoch Falls, spectacular waterfalls and woodland walk, look out for fairies and witches!

Cregennan Lake near Arthog, stunning location, with views of the Mawddach Estuary.

The Barmouth Bridge, built by Brunel. You can walk across it and enjoy sensational views of the Mawddach estuary, then explore Barmouth, with its excellent beaches and harbour. There are good shops, numerous coffee shops & pubs. The Last Inn & Davey Jones Locker are particularly good.

Cader Idris & Llyn Cau, most walkers agree is more scenic than Snowdon.

The Bearded Lake above Aberdovey, mystical place of legends, with amazing view of the Dovey Estuary.

The Dysynni River & reed beds. A wild life haven for, geese, ducks and herons. Fishing with a permit. The Dysynni Valley and Tal-y-llyn Lake are just stunningly beautiful.

Bird Rock is a geographical feature within Dysynni Valley and a local landmark. 500 years ago the sea came up to the rock, but the Cormorant still breed here. A ruined, Iron Age fort can be found near the top of the rock.

With all this and so much more, you can make a holiday to suit yourself!
