In the shadows of Carer Idris is the stunning Talyllyn Lake.  Just a short drive form there is Corris and the world renowned 'Centre for Alternative Technology' (or CAT) which is a fascinating place to visit and learn. Close to CAT is The Corris Craft Centre and King Arthurs Labyrinth, another must-visit place.
